WESTMINSTER, Colorado (CBS4) – Westminster police say they arrested Armando Valdez Gonzalez, 50, while robbing a yard sale Saturday. Police say he faces multiple charges, including aggravated robbery, first degree assault and theft.
Police responded to a house near 102nd Avenue near Sheridan Boulevard. Valdez Gonzalez got away from their flea market with a couple’s purse.

Investigators say the couple noticed the bag was missing in their mid-70s. Then the woman confronted the suspect, who was already in a truck. Police say she reached in to grab the bag, but the suspect drove away and dragged the woman a short distance before she fell.

According to the police, she passed out and was taken to the hospital. While the woman’s husband and son were by her side, the officers stayed behind and packed up the family’s farm sale and detained them.
“Our community is safer when we come together as a team to seek justice for victims, especially those at risk. This is a perfect example of how the community and the police come together to solve a crime and make the community a safer place, ”the police said in a press release on Sunday afternoon.

Valdez Gonzalez is now behind bars.
