(CBS4) – A 39-year-old man was sentenced to 90 days in prison Monday after slashing his colleague near the base of the Breckenridge ski area a year ago. Carlton Findley and his coworker argued at the Coppertop Cafe & Lounge in the Beaver Run Resort Hotel on January 7th and pleaded guilty to assault in November.
Both Findley and his associate were injured in the fight that began in the kitchen. Summit County prosecutors say the employee felt threatened by Findley and hit him with a large pan and ran out of the kitchen. Findley then grabbed a kitchen knife and chased him. He cut his head with the knife as he hit him.
The agent was able to take the knife away from Findley and people nearby helped hold him down until the police came.
In addition to the 90-day jail sentence, Findley was sentenced to a five-year suspended sentence in the Colorado Department of Corrections. He has to pay thousands in legal fees and is on probation for three years.
“The defendant will have some time in the coming months to reflect on his actions and make amends to society,” Lisa Hunt, Senior Deputy Summit County DA, said in a prepared statement.
