Denver, CO, was named one of the best cities for an active lifestyle, ranking 8th, according to a study conducted by WalletHub.

The study, which was released on Wednesday (January 6th), is very timely as many people have New Year’s resolution to lose weight and exercise more.

According to the Denver Post, WalletHub compared the 100 largest U.S. cities by finding and using data that ranged from average monthly fitness club fee to number of basketball hoops, to bike stats and the spread of COVID-19 in each city.

The Mile High City was among the top per capita for swimming pools, fitness centers, and public golf courses, ranking in the top 10 in the country for those statistics.

The top 5 cities for an active lifestyle according to WalletHubs study are:

  1. Honolulu, HI
  2. Portland, OR
  3. San Diego, CA.
  4. San Francisco, CA.
  5. Chicago, IL

Other Colorado cities were on the list, including Colorado Springs (# 42) and Aurora (# 69).
