The famous Santa Fe art exhibition will soon have a permanent home near Colfax Avenue.

Coloradans have been patiently waiting for Meow Wolf to open in Denver. The wait is finally coming to an end and the permanent art exhibition opens its doors between the viaducts of Colfax Avenue and Interstate 25.

Meow Wolf has announced plans to open the lavish 90,000 square meter site in autumn 2021. However, an exact date has not yet been announced.

In a press release, Meow Wolf announced that “the shell has been built and the sticky interior is filled with interactive art from more than 110 local artists, partner partners and artists from our own Meow Wolf team”.

The team tweeted conspicuously on April 28: “Denver is really pretty this fall.”

The art project was first announced in 2018. Since then, hundreds of artists and workers have worked to create an immersive interactive art exhibit. Other Denver locations were considered for the exhibit, according to a 2018 press release from Meow Wolf. However, the art production company felt that the Colfax Avenue location was the ideal location.

The New Mexico-based company consists of more than 200 artists. This includes architecture, sculpture, video, painting, photography, music, augmented reality, writing, performance and more. Together they combine their skills to create an immersive artistic space that transitions from reality into a fantastic realm.

Meow Wolf’s original exhibit opened in Santa Fe in 2008. The “House of Eternal Return” has received over 1 million visitors since then.

The new Denver location will be three times the size of the Santa Fe exhibit.

Meow Wolf expects to announce a specific date for the opening soon. For more information about the art exhibition and to announce the date, you can sign up for Meow Wolf’s email newsletter to be notified.
