David Carle was named Richard and Kitzia Goodman’s head coach on Friday May 25th. He became the ninth head coach in program history and the youngest active head coach in NCAA Division I ice hockey.

Denver Connection: During the last four and a half seasons from 2014 to 2018 he worked as an assistant trainer for the pioneers. Was a student assistant coach for four seasons from 2008 to 2012 before graduating from the University of Denver in 2012


Assistant Coach – Denver Pioneers – 2014-2018

– Joined the Pioneers midway through the 2013-2014 season, serving under head coach Jim Montgomery

– Helped Denver to a 115-51-23 record, a 66-32-14-8 mark in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC), one (1) NCHC regular season title, and two (2) NCHC Frozen Faceoff titles, five (5) NCAA tournament appearances, two (2) Frozen Four appearances, and the 2017 National Championship

Assistant Coach – Green Bay Gamblers (United States Hockey League) – 2012-2014

– Helped the players hit a 37-23-4 record in a year and a half

– Led Green Bay to second place in the USHL’s Eastern Conference for the 2012-2013 season

Student Assistant – Denver Pioneers – 2008-2012

– He joined the Pioneers coaching staff after originally being hired for Denver, but retired from his career when he was diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, the underlying disease of the myocardial muscle of the heart

-The Pioneers team under head coach George Gwozdecky for four (4) appearances in the NCAA tournament and one (1) regular season title of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA)

International coaching

– Won a gold medal as a video coordinator for the US Under-17 team at the 2011 Five Nations tournament
