DENVER (CBS4)– A woman who is believed to be a star witness in the Delshe Lucas murder trial against Kelsie Schelling was shot dead in Denver last week. Denver police said Roxann Martinez’s death was believed to be unrelated to the murder trial.
Martinez was found at the intersection of E. Kenyon Dr. and S. Wabash St. shot. The Denver coroner ruled her death was a murder from a gunshot wound.

Martinez was due to testify for law enforcement in the ongoing Pueblo murder trial. Lucas was accused of murdering Schelling, although her body was never found. Lucas pleaded not guilty to murder in the first degree in August 2018.
When she disappeared in February 2013, Schelling was pregnant and reportedly traveled from Denver to Pueblo to speak to Lucas about it.

Messages on Schelling’s phone indicated that she texted Lucas that she was pregnant and his replies showed that he was unhappy.
On the day she was reportedly missing, GPS on her phone indicated that it had driven to the same location in Pueblo as Lucas’ phone.
