DENVER (CBS4) – Senator Michael Bennet is campaigning for an option for public health insurance in the United States. Colorado Democrat Tim Kaine first introduced the warrant government, Medicare-X, three years ago and reintroduced it on Wednesday.

Under the law, Medicare-X would initially be available in the region with a lack of insurers, particularly in rural communities.

It would use the Medicare network of healthcare providers, which would then receive a higher reimbursement rate than the current Medicare rate.

The public option would ensure the same essential health benefits of the Affordable Care Act, including pediatrics, maternity care, and mental health care.
