Hyatt Hotels Corp. opened the Hyatt Place Peña train station / Denver Airport.

The new hotel has experimental elements including a curated arts program with a focus on Colorado. a bar with local beers, wines, and spirits; a resident Golden Retriever puppy named Denver greets guests at check-in; and convenient location one stop from Denver International Airport (DIA) on the RTD University of Colorado A-line train.

A collaboration between McWhinney – a Colorado-based real estate investor and developer – and Sage Hospitality, the operator of the hotel, this is the first hotel to open in Denver’s Peña Station NEXT, a community, walk-through development that features apartment buildings and offices offers, retail, health and wellness as well as hotels and restaurants.

The Hyatt Place Peña train station / Denver Airport was designed by the architectural firm GKK Works in Denver and is awaiting Silver LEED certification from the US Green Building Council.

Peña Station Next is being developed by LC Fulenwider, Inc. in collaboration with the Denver International Airport Division of Real Estate and the Panasonic Enterprise Solutions Company.

The hotel has 226 rooms with separate rooms for sleeping, working and playing as well as a sofa bed in the cozy corner. The suites on the top floor have a balcony and an unobstructed view of the mountains. There is free WiFi throughout the hotel and in the rooms.

For dining, the property has a breakfast bar, market and Starbucks outlet. In the meantime, the bar offers mountain views and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.

For events, the property has more than 4,000 square meters of flexible high-tech meeting / event space with conference rooms flooded with light.

Amenities include a fitness center. heated indoor pool, an entertainment area with board games and a Sony Play Station, and a library with digital book-borrowing options.

The highlights of the interior art program at Hyatt Place Peña Station / Denver Airport include an integrated baggage wall and historic license plates from western states. In collaboration with Nine dot Arts, the curated art collection offers playful references from Colorado’s past, present, and future, as well as the connectivity of technology and social media and the nostalgia of domestic life.
